Default Ford Fusion with Compass Module

I saw a post about Blendmount in the radardetector.net V1 forum and had to check it out and with the price with Beta testing I had to try one.

It came in yesterday and installed it. I'm impressed that it came with the tools and extra screws which is really a good thing.

First attempt to put it up on a break didn't go as easy as I expected. I have a Ford Fusion with a large module under the mirror for the compass and it doesn't leave a lot of room to work. There's a gray spacer that comes with Blendmount that has to stay in place and with the little room it was hard to do. I cut the spacer in two and superglued it in to each half and problem solved, went right in place.

With the Ford Compass module, you don't have much room to slide the mount up and down the stem, but it really doesn't matter because I prefer having the V1 face simmilar to the mirror and thats right where it puts it.

It takes a minute or two to get the V1 level, and after that some tighteing and its really solid, the mount is far and away more solid that the bracket on the V1. I put mine tight up to the mirror so it almost touches the compass module, but you could drop it down if that were and issue. I like that its up high and doesn't stand out like a windshield mount so I won't be taking it down every time we get out of the car.

I still need to get some small zip ties to route the power cable with the wiring for the compass and mirror, but otherwise install is done. It took about 10 minutes (after glueing the spacer), and most of that was adjuting to fit my preferences.

My only complaint is that they don't have the Escort 9500i model for my other car, but hopefully soon!

Thank you for a thorough review and the install pics. Looks like I will be adding some zip ties to this kit.

A BlendMount Kit for the Belltronics / Escort RDs will probably be another month or so.
