Great Pic quality!
Auto-dimming mirror--perfect for a nice, tight install (no dimming lever). Should look great. Thanks.

Nikon D-70s...
Great pics every time... Though the lighting COULD have been a bit better on this one, perhaps a clear sky background. So, what's the next step? |

Next, we set up the item in our shopping cart--you'll get an email with a link to the item. We'll encode a coupon for the blendmount in the link. You'll acquire the item there (and pay any sales tax in CA, & shipping).
Then during your install, just make mental thoughts (or notes & pics) on things you think will benefit our readers. And, of course, some nice install pics! Vehicle specific info would be good, since we'll be linking other owners to your thread. Thanks.

I suppose I need to get my hardwire kit coming too... that way I can document the entire install at once. I'll try to make sure I have a better background with the next set of pics... ![]() |

Ok, everyone. Sorry for the delay, but I was finally able to find the time to install the kit this weekend and I must say it is VERY well made!
Nice Job to Frank and the guys at Blendmount (assuming that Frank is not a solo operation here) for making a very solid, professional product. I did not take any pictures of the package contents because I assume, if needed, Frank can provide those, but I did take some step by step photos. On the 2004 Denali (and presumably other high level GM SUVs and Trucks of this vintage, the mount DOES require the "shim" to be inserted between the Mirror Stem and the blendmount. Of course, this does present a bit more dexterity than simply installing it without the shim, but honestly, it is still quite simple. FIRST, I just attached the Detector to the Blendmount and held it up to the stem for a "test fit" just to gen an idea of the approximate desired location before final installation. Pic 1Next you can see the "shim stock" on the stem and to the left of the blendmount, you will see the clip that will need to be moved (or removed) just until installation is complete. Pic 2Next step is final positioning and tightening of the blendmount upper bracket. (as you can see, the optimal position in this application is approximately 5/8" from the mirror up the stem) Pic 3Then, tighten both upper screws. One from the left: Pic 4The other from the Right: Pic 5Then, after running the wire for the hardwire kit (more pics to follow) Reinstall the wire cover from the headliner to the base of the mirror mount Pic 6Now apply light pressure to the front of the detector to get a flush fit to the mirror while tightening pivot fasteners. Pic 7You can then tighten the Upper fasteners completely from the top: Pic 8Reinstall factory wire clip. Pic 9Pic 10And check your gap... NOTE: You may notice that the detector is pointed down... Depending on your height, this COULD be the case. I am rather tall and when I have my mirror adjusted for me, the detector becomes nearly straight with just a slight downward angle (to my liking) Your angle may vary based upon how you tend to adjust your mirror. Pic 11Run the wire under the headliner along the windshield and into the Left A-pillar trim Pic 12Then through the dash at the A-pillar into the fuse block panel. Pic 13Pic 14Button it all back up and here's your final product. Pic 15Pic 16Pic 17 |

Sorry for the huge pics...
I thought the forum automatically resized them.... I don't have time right now to go back and resize them all.. I'll do it later when I get time. |

I'll resize the pics...
And, my Brother Mike is the creator of BlendMount--you weren't far off (2-person operation thus far). Thanks for your superior quality pics and comments...very nice! fg

Cool.... just let me know if you guys need me for anything...
I gotta say, I love having the Blendmount in my Denali! But it does take some getting used to the location change (after years of having it on the windshield). I never realized how much was in my line of sight with the factory suction cup mount. Not to mention I can now reach the detector controls with no problem. |
